HERO OR ZERO
The concept for this project was to create a comic book that would twist traditional fantasy tropes and subvert readers’ expectations. By doing this I wanted to create a world that would be easily understandable for anyone, regardless of whether or not they are fans of comics or the fantasy genre. This story follows a mysterious magical figure who is confronted with his destiny but chooses to pursue more immediate material gain instead of doing what was foretold.

SKETCHES + PROCESS WORK
Sketching is always integral to my process but it was essential for this project as I really wanted to plan out the composition and illustrative flow of not only each page but each chapter and the book as a whole.
This is also when I started considering illustration styles and colors for the finished work. I knew I wanted it to utilize a minimal color palette and as I drew out each page I began to think about how many colors I would need to create each illustration without it being too one-note.
